HBE Picnic

So, I am late on posting the deals again this week. I have a fun excuse though! We went to my father-in-law's work picnic today. We got lots of free food, saw a really good magician, played lots of games and won a lot of great, fun prizes! My little guy had a blast. He teethed on stuffed animal limbs all the way home. Eckerts Farm

I am running late on posting grocery store deals because of the holiday yesterday. My family and I decided to take the day and go to Eckerts Farm. We had a good time picking blackberries, peaches & apples. We came back with so much fruit that I spent the day today cleaning, cutting & freezing most of it.

Menus Monday

So far in this mealing planning series we talked about shopping with a list and organizing our freezers.

Tip #3: Do a 5 Day Meal Plan. "Structure your meal plan. You can do this by designating a theme per week night. Finding recipes that will slot into an evening can be the starting point to great variety during the week."

Example:

Monday - Chicken recipe

Tuesday - Beef recipe

Wednesday - Vegetarian or Pasta recipe

Thursday - Slowcooker recipe

Friday - Pizza or Soup recipe

Weekend - Leftovers or Eat Out (These would be great days to pull out the frozen leftovers we discussed last Monday.

Obviously, the items could be changed and you would want to accomodate what your family likes to eat. If there is a day that you know you do not have time to cook, use that day as the leftover day or plan to eat out. For me Wednesday and Thursday are both days that I do not have time to plan. I work those two days and picking up the little one from Grandma's does not leave much time to plan a meal before bedtime. What I may start doing is making one of the nights and eat out night and the other one a slowcooker night. This way we are not spending a lot of money on take out.

Mine will probably look like this:

Monday - Chicken recipe

Tuesday - Pasta recipe

Wednesday - Eat Out

Thursday - Slowcooker recipe

Friday - Vegetarian recipe

Saturday - Pizza recipe

Sunday - Tuna recipe

These 2 pictures are samples that I have received recently. Not all were this week but I haven't taken pictures of them recently. The books in the top picture were found by my mom in a recycle bin. Day @ Grant's Farm

So, I am late posting my weekly savings but for a good cause. My husband decided he wanted to have a family day today and take us somewhere we haven't been. We went to Grant's Farm. We probably picked a crazy weekend, being a holiday weekend though. There was a really long line to get in. Once we got in though, it was very cool. My little guy really enjoyed the camels & goats.

He got to help mommy feed a baby goat a bottle. He really wanted the bottle himself (he was getting hungry) but gave it to the goats. Actually the goats didn't give us a choice, we were pretty much bumped by them and they pushed each other out of the way to get to the milk. We had a blast!



Later, we got to feed a camel. He wasn't sure what to think of those big old critters. He was wide eyed and kept saying "OOOhhh". It was very fun for all of us. We got to see a lot of great animals. If you have never been, I would suggest going! It is only $10 a car, so car pool and get the most for your money!
