A Day at the Caverns

Today my family and I decided to make the 1.5 hour drive to Meramec Caverns. It was well worth it. We had a blast! We took the 1.5 hour guided tour and we ended our trip with a 30 minute boat ride down the Meramec River. We got to see some of the wash out from the flood last weekend. It is amazing how much water a little river can hold (or not in the case of flooding).
For any of you that may live within driving range of the Caverns and have not been there, it is a lot of fun. There is also a Reptile Farm at the top of the hill right outside the Caverns that is a blast to visit while you are out there. If you grab a flyer for it from the Caverns, they will give you $1 off admission.
If you are wondering about cost, here is the breakdown. The caverns cost $17.50 ($3 off admission for up to 4 people here) for the guided tour (required), Mining (optional) cost $4.99-$9.99 (this entails getting a bag of what looks like dirt and you wash it in the mine mill and see what stones you get), Boat Ride (optional) cost $6/person (If you have a Shop'n Save go to the customer service counter and pick up the brochure that says "St. Louis Family Attractions Card". It has a B1G1 coupon for the boat ride and several other great coupons!). There are several other optional things that we didn't do so I am not sure of their cost but there is plenty to do!
